From time to time I've set myself the challenge of playing every day for a month. Months are carefully chosen to avoid any where we might be away from home. The various distractions in my life, other than work, are set aside to make more piping time. Initially I blogged daily as well, but that eats up more time, so I've either gone for short daily posts or have skipped posts. When a day is a particular challenge, because we're out in the evening perhaps, then playing time might be on the chanter or just a token 5 minutes.
During these months I find I start well, then very quickly hit a patch where I feel I can do nothing right. By the end of the month I find that I've learned or improved a few tunes, I'm playing faster, I love playing, and that it really isn't that hard to find 20 or 30 minutes a more in a day to do something you enjoy. The real mystery is why I don't do this more often.
